🚗 6 minutes faster at one intersection: a new bridge opens in Dubai

Daily commutes should become noticeably faster for residents of several major Dubai districts.

On August 9, the RTA opened a new 700-meter, four-lane bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.

And the most interesting thing here are the numbers. Previously, the wait at this section during peak hours could reach 7 minutes. After the project is completed, the RTA expects to reduce this time to approximately 1 minute—an 85% reduction.

The bridge itself can handle up to 6,000 vehicles per hour, and once all ramps are completed, the intersection’s overall capacity should increase from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour. That’s almost 2.5 times.

🌿 The first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site appeared in the UAE

When people talk about the UAE, most people think of skyscrapers, desert and luxury resorts. But just a few hours from Dubai lies a place that feels more like a tropical oasis.

This is the Wadi Wurayah Nature Reserve in the Emirate of Fujairah - a unique natural park with an area of more than 220 km², located among the Hajar Mountains.

💦 The main attraction of the reserve is the only waterfall in the UAE that does not dry out all year round. It is fed by more than 60 natural springs that have existed here for thousands of years.

But it's not just the waterfall that's impressive.

🌱 More than 1,000 species of animals and plants live in the reserve, many of which are found only in this region. Here you can see the rare Arabian tahr, caracal, foxes, dozens of bird species and even the only wild orchid growing in the UAE - Epipactis veratrifolia.

🏞️ In 2026, Wadi Wurayya was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, becoming the first natural site in the history of the UAE to receive this prestigious status.

Another good news is that from October the reserve will begin to accept visitors on organized excursions. This is a great opportunity to see a completely different side of the Emirates - without skyscrapers, shopping centers and noisy highways.
