Iâve said this before⌠and Iâll say it again.
Dubai is not for everyone.
Dubai is a nightmare... if youâre a fan of high taxes, rising crime, and grey skies.
If you prefer your âreal worldâ with a side of zero safety and even less disposable income, please stay home. Everyone warns you about the âDubai bubble,â but itâs full of people who realized they donât actually have to live like theyâre in a Victorian novel.
Hereâs what youâll âhave to deal withâ if you make the mistake of moving here:
1ď¸âŁ The âSafetyâ Problem. Youâll develop the terrible habit of leaving your $5,000 laptop on a cafe table while you go to the bathroom. Itâs a hard habit to break when you go back to a ârealâ city where your car window gets smashed for a pack of gum.
2ď¸âŁ The âFakeâ Lifestyle. Everything is new, clean, and actually works. The horror. If you prefer your luxury living with a side of 100-year-old plumbing and peeling paint, a waterfront apartment in the Marina is going to be a huge disappointment.
3ď¸âŁ The 0% Tax Burden. Itâs honestly exhausting deciding what to do with the money you arenât giving to the government. You might accidentally buy a boat or start a business. Itâs a slippery slope.
4ď¸âŁ The âWinterâ Trauma. Youâll be forced to endure 25°C weather from October to April. Youâll forget what a shovel looks like and your heavy winter coats will become a âstorage lockerâ problem while the rest of the world freezes.
5ď¸âŁ The Service Standards. You might stop knowing how to pump your own gas or carry your own groceries. Dubai ruins your ability to tolerate âaverageâ service. Once youâve lived here, everywhere else feels like a downgrade.
So yeah⌠donât say I didnât warn you. Dubai has a way of turning a âone-year planâ into a âten-year lifestyle.â
Thinking about moving to the desert? đŠ DM me âDUBAIâ and Iâll send you a list of waterfront rentals that make your current situation look like a prison cell.
