Sure, Lennox Head is know for surfing, but the rocky reef at the southern end of the beach is not only terrific for swimming, but also for incredible snorkeling. Its part of the Cape Byron Marine Reserve and the sealife is truly remarkable. We call it the Bream Hole. This page details some of the local spottings. When you're visiting, make sure you bring your snorkel and flippers!

Wondering where we are? Direct flights to Ballina Byron gateway airport come from Sydney(1 hr) and Melbourne (2hrs). You can get an uber, or hire a car. There's plenty to explore in the area, or just hang by the pool and gardens. You can also fly to the Gold Coast and drive down - about 1 hour. Search Lennox or Northern Rivers for more insights ino the local area - our home usually, but maybe your holiday home this summer!

One of special things about our area is the wildlife. This morning we hit a record! Not one (special), not two (very special!) but three (wow, small miracle!) Swamp Wallabies spotted on our morning walk! That's a first. They're very shy, and pretty cute, don't you agree? We saw them on the walkway that leads from the beach up to Lennox Headland point. But they are also visiting our yard too, going by the s**t I have found. Keep you eyes open! (Not my pic)

This is Lake Ainsworth, a true jewel. When the beach is not as its best, this is an oasis - a lake that is 'tea' coloured and makes your skin and hair so soft. Its also got a sand bottom, so easy to walk in and out. Council did some work to stop cars driving too close, but they also installed community bbq's, seating and its just a fantastic picnic area. Just 3 km drive from our place, but about 1km as the 'crow flies'. (We used to be able to see the tops of sail boats from our front deck! But the trees have grown a bit). Of course, if that doesnt appeal, we have our own private pool to cool off in - and its much closer the fridge. :)
