Plan for Autumn colour in your garden. The lower sun makes changing leaves glisten like jewels. Rooms that you want shaded in the summer can bask in winter warmth as the trunks of trees become visible.

Fallen leaves make a good mulch to protect ground covers from frost and break down to add compost PLUS they are as cover for all manner of bugs. If you want a leaf free garden you should consider an apartment with a balcony.

I’ve talked before about finding space in your home for special things.
Something from relations or a friends as a hand-me-down or a memento.

My oldest friends, in every sense, have recently moved into smaller accommodation where care is at hand. These Celia Rosser prints hung in their main rooms ever since I knew them and I was touched when they asked if I would take them on.

They now adorn my sitting room wall, a daily reminder of our friendship. I am pleased to say my friends applaud the location.

One of the keys to making your home a place that sends a signal of friendship and warmth to any guest is the inclusion of these sorts of treasures. If you don’t find space for anything but the new, you risk your home ending up looking like a furniture showroom floor.

In luxury interior design, the supply chain matters as much as the design itself. Where materials come from, who makes them, and how they’re produced all contribute to the final outcome.
