From 1 February 2026, NSW introduced mandatory certification and safety standards for e-micromobility devices such as e-bikes and e-scooters. Devices and their lithium-ion batteries sold in NSW must now be tested, certified and display an approved electrical safety mark.

These rules mainly apply to manufacturers, importers and retailers, but they are still relevant for strata communities where devices are often stored and charged in shared or high-density environments.
