We are nearly at the end of the civil works required for Freshwater Pocket to come to life. fgf have done and continue to do an incredible job. They have upgraded sewage, water mains, drainage systems and roads for the entire surrounding community as part of this project.

🛑UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE INFO 🛑

Please be advised that a road closure will take place at the beginning of the December School Holidays.

ROAD CLOSURE - between Freshwater Christian College & Kamerunga Road from Monday, 12th December – Friday, 23rd December 2022.

The full road closure is required due to the construction of a new roundabout at the entrance of Freshwater Pocket which will ensure the long term safe traffic management for ALL residents and in particular safe traffic flow into Freshwater Christian College and the Church.

The roadworks have been scheduled during the December school holidays to minimise the impact on high traffic periods.

We acknowledge that this may cause some interruption to people's lives and possible delays during this period of time and we thank you for your patience while we carry out these construction works.

Clear signage will be erected at either side of the road closure with information about detours. A notice will be placed in The Cairns Post, information flyers are being distributed throughout key traffic areas in the affected areas and you will be kept up to date via the Freshwater Pocket page throughout the period of the road closure with any further helpful information.

Below are pictorial representations of the detours that will be in place and a clearly marked road closure area so you can make amendments to your travel paths accordingly.

***Note: the road closure area is the same as the previous full road closure we did in the Sept School Holidays. Weather permitting, this will be the last of the full closures***

🛑UPCOMING SINGLE LANE ROAD CLOSURE - Brinsmead Road🛑

Please be advised that there will be a single lane road closure (northbound) on Brinsmead Rd this coming Monday 31st October & Tuesday 1st November.

Traffic controllers will be on site to guide traffic while urgent work is undertaken to upgrade existing Council water infrastructure (a 16m section of Asbestos Concrete watermain pipe.)

Monday 31st Oct after school resumes (8:30am) FGF will commence preparation work to ensure all machinery and materials are in place and all safety precautions are adhered to. Tuesday 1st Nov after school resumes (8:30am) the actual upgrade will take place. All work will be completed by 4pm that day and traffic flow will return to normal.

Thank you in advance for your patience while this important work takes place in your community to upgrade your water main.

Further to Kristy Vallely - Div.6 Councillor, Cairns Regional Council’s recent community video update. Please be advised of the latest Road Closure information for the Sept School Holiday period.

ROAD CLOSURE - between Freshwater Christian College & Kamerunga Road from 19 Sept – 3rd Oct 2022.

The full road closure is required due to the large stormwater drainage pipe that is to be installed within the road, as well as the complete upgrade of over 12m of watermain infrastructure on the site that also runs through a large portion of the road.

The roadworks have been scheduled during the September school holidays to minimise the impact on high traffic periods.

We acknowledge that this may cause some interruption to people's lives and possible delays during this period of time and we thank you for your patience while we carry out these stormwater and watermain upgrades for your entire community.

🛑IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE🛑

Please be advised that due to wet weather the roadworks on Brinsmead Road have been delayed by 24hrs. The sealing of the road will take place as per the schedule, but will require drying time prior to re-opening to traffic so will need to remain closed this Sunday 10th July. Monday morning 11th July, traffic will be re-open to one lane and both lanes will re-open that same afternoon.

***NOTICE OF UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE ***
Between Freshwater Christian College & Loridan Drive (27 June - 9 July 2022)

Please be advised that there will be an upcoming Road Closure in your community between Freshwater Christian College & Loridan Drive from 27 June - 9 July 2022

The reason a full road closure is required is due to Workplace, Health & Safety and an adequate safe working area for operation of machinery. This cannot be achieved with contra flow traffic due to the depth and size of the work area.

The Road Closure has been scheduled during the June/July school holiday period to minimise the impact on high traffic periods.

The Church and Day care/Holiday Care services provided by Freshwater Christian College will still be accessible throughout the entire road closure period.

We acknowledge that this will cause some interruption to people's lives during this period of time and we thank you for your patience to upgrade underground services for your community.

Clear signage will be erected at either side of the road closure with information about detours. A notice has been placed in The Cairns Post, information flyers are being distributed throughout key traffic areas in the affected areas and you will be kept up to date via this page throughout the period of the road closure with any further helpful information.
