Wombat Crossing Location

Wombat Crossing Location A 70 acre bush location with facilities 90 mins NW of Melbourne. Tailored to Indie Film requirements. Attention: Indie and Student Film Makers.

There is an exclusive Indie Film Location in the Wombat State Forest close to Melbourne that recognises the difficulties in securing film locations that fall within the limited budgets and travel capacities of student filmmakers. Wombat Crossing is 70 acres of varied bushland environments and some interesting mutable buildings and features. We can also provide budget accommodation for small crews

so turnaround times can be easily met and expensive external B&B’s kept to a minimum. This is what we have on site so far.
• The Spanish Hacienda: A terraced building shaded by white cedars, offering a Mediterranean feel.
• The Stationmaster’s Cottage: A large, self-contained 1880s-style cottage with two bedrooms.
• The Tabernacle: A small church (12x6m) with customizable interiors and interchangeable external veneers.
• The Bus: A 1970s Bedford camper located at the Campsite, ideal for retro productions. Decked out as a tiny home. Featured Locations:
• The River Flat: A tranquil area with a creek, small waterfall, and ancient Swamp Gums.
• The Campsite on Dropbear Ridge: A forest clearing optimized for night shoots, with a spooky atmosphere and the Bus as a feature/green room
• The Tabernacle Gardens: A 4-acre garden space with a winding path leading to the Tabernacle, a mutable building that looks like a church in the trees, but has exteriors that switch out (log or stone or brick or weatherboard or corrugated iron.) and an open interior with flats for different sets. Church, classroom, town hall, tavern, wizard’s grotto.
• The Untamed Bush. Ideal place for lost tourists to encounter Dropbears and stuff. Other Facilities:
The Production Shed: An easily accessible, secure dry area with power for charging equipment. Property Manager: Resident manager who will operate any machinery required to facilitate access to, and transport of equipment around the block. Set Boss: Oversees the sets department. He’ll consult with your Production Designer to determine what they want to build from our available flats and set pieces and oversee any modifications your PD might with to make. Nanna Cook: Not actually a Nanna. But will provide old school - no nonsense comfort food cooked with love. Please feel free to call if you wish to come out for a look. 0408229879. [email protected]

Good Morning Film Entities. The dawn broke clear, blue and cold at Wombat Crossing. Negative 2 degrees with dragon's breath and cold fingers. Even though a fortnight early, Winter announced it's official arrival with the four white cedars in the courtyard dropping their leaves. As if a switch was thrown, the summer's foliage that shaded the north facing terrace started like a rain shower to drop from the trees onto the paving stones and within minutes the ground was a carpet of shed leaves and a new season's light reaching the windows on the balcony.

A quick look around at the first clean up of "Dropbear Ridge" the campsite area at Wombat Crossing Location that has been groomed to facilitate safe and easy bush nightshoots by removing trip hazards and head knockers. There has been another stump removal effort up there since these pics. So quite a lot more bonfire material lying about. There are bonfires being assembled now in safe and accessible areas. More pics to come.

Winter is coming, and with it bonfire season. We have been busy here grooming the "Tabernacle Forest" and "Dropbear Ridge Campsite so that the ground is free of trip hazards as well as head height eye pokers and scalp grazers making forest night shoots easier and safer. With all this clearing up there have amassed several substantial bonfire piles.
Does your film require a large bonfire on which to stake and burn some recalcitrants or heretics? Perhaps a pile of zombie corpses or banned literature. Maybe you need a large bonfire to dance around?... (We will have a fire trailer and pump on site and a series of pressure water fire extinguishers on site and will prep the area to CFA specifications before any fire is lit.)
We have several bonfires of different sizes ready to go. So if you need a bonfire for your film we can help.
