Another great example of how native fungi can be used to take advantage of w**ds to grow food and medicine. 🍄

If your a bush regenerator, gardener or farmer it’s in your best interests to be taking advantage of the biomass that would usually be considered useless.

Here you can see a w**dy tree (Broad leafed privet) chopped down and relocated close to the home so my client can grow mushrooms to pick and eat.

Anyone can do it and just about any tree including the ones you call ‘w**ds’ can be used as a growing medium.

These fungi are primary decomposers in their natural habitat - digesting dead woody material, breaking down the lignin and cellulose and playing a crucial role in recycling nutrients within ecosystems.

We are taking advantage of their ability to turn our w**dy biomass into yields and break it down for the soil so it can be used once again.

Keen to see how many years we will get out of this log stacks !

Keen to be holding another Mycoregen workshop in Bellingen on Sunday the 3rd of May. We will be inoculating large stands of Camphor laurel’s using native endemic fungal strains to convert these w**ds into mushroom fruiting bodies! 🍄

This is the second workshop of its kind in the Bellingen area and we are stoked to be spreading the mycelium around the east coast.

This workshop will be held on a farm just 12 minutes outside of Bellingen at assisting the regeneration of the land through the removal of camphor laurels using the mycoregen process.

If your a land owner, bush regenerator or fungi lover looking for an alternative approach to regeneration this workshop is for you.

Hope to see a lot of you there!

The time to invest in food security is now. Worlds getting strange and food on the table is always a good thing to have. 🧑‍🌾

Fruit Tree Fella has a perfect example as a backyard and you can go suss it out as part of his open nursery days.

We are ready to help you design your backyards to have food in the ground and on the table. 🥕 🥭

Stoked to announce and I we will be returning to the banks of King Creek to continue to phase out Camphor laurels using native endemic fungal cultures.

This will be our second workshop held at where we are inoculating Camphor laurels and Privet in the Riparian zone using the Mycoregen process.

We have some delicious Strains of Native Fungi to play with. We will be using Plurotus ostreatus (White oyster) and Lentinus sajor-caju.

If you join us for our upcoming workshop, you will partake in a hands-on demonstration of the Mycoregen process for effectively removing woody w**ds. We will be sharing the skills needed to transform these plants into valuable fruiting bodies, whether for culinary purposes or medicinal use.

We will be focusing on

🔨 Mycoregen Process and hands on live inoculation.

🍄 The Integration into food systems like agroforestry.

🪵 Log stack mushroom farming and digesting local biomass.

Our workshop will equip you with the tools to implement this process in bush regeneration as a technique to manage large stands of woody w**ds and get some food/medicine in return.

See you all soon 🍄🪵💚

Introducing another Food forest that has been recently installed on Dunghutti Country. 💚💪🏼

This project has been an awesome chance to utilise passive water harvesting techniques. 💦

Using big swales on contour these catch lots of water every time it rains as it intercepts the water flow on its way to the clients damn. It’s slows, spreads and sink the excess groundwater in large rain events storing tens of thousands of litres.

This water is forced to pe*****te the ground and goes directly underneath the plants roots - Passively harvesting and irrigating the entire system without having to lift a finger.

Another project using the power of permaculture design to set it up for success. If this is what 4 months looks like then I can’t wait for what the next couple of years has in store. 🤌🏼🤌🏼

Thanks to the team for your work on the ground. I’d have a sore back and head without you lot 💚

This years gonna be a big one plenty more on the way…. 🔥🔥🔥

Love to see mycoregen in action! Native oysters digesting a branch of a massive fig tree and fruiting like crazy.🍄😍

A perfect example of how to yield off local biomass that is around you with minimal effort and massive yields.

This branch fell last time I was on my way to the bro’s and now I’m returning to see it already being digested and turned into delicious fruiting bodies. What a great way to take advantage of the resources around us.

This same process can be copied with any woody w**ds and is perfect for those trees that need to be cut down near houses/powerlines or when putting in a new fence.

Relocating the biomass into an area your around, innoculating it with native fungi and then enjoying the yields for years to come.

This is what regeneration of our ecosystems can look and feel like. A future where we are all well fed whilst helping our the ecosystems around us. ♻️

On Saturday the 21st of March I’ll be holding another Mycoregen workshop on the Mid-North Coast on behalf of 🍄

The support and feedback of the previous couple of workshops has been epic and I’m so keen to continue to share the mycoregen process as it gains recognition and traction for bush regenerators and property owners.

If you’re interested in growing fungi or looking for an alternative approach to managing woody w**ds, that doesn’t involve chem, then this workshop is perfect for you. 👌

We will be sharing our method of bush regeneration known as Mycoregen, where we will be using native endemic fungi to phase out woody w**ds. 🌳

It’s a workshop designed to support those who are looking to learn new techniques for bush regeneration on the ground, and for landowners who are wanting to benefit from yielding edible/medicinal fungal fruiting bodies.

We will be returning for our third workshop on the banks of the Macleay River where we will be inoculating broad leafed Privet and Camphor Laurels using selected fungal strains. We will be demonstrating how to phase woody w**ds out of a w**d burdened ecosystem, whilst simultaneously growing food and medicine.

Tickets are available through the link in the bio and via the website under ‘events’.

Tag a friend who you think would be interested in our workshop.🤠

Here is a 6 month visit to one of my recent food forest installations! 🌴

The growth over such a short period of time makes me want to use swales for as many food forest designs from here on.

I’d choose working with contour where possible rather than north facing rows anyday of the week.

Multiple large rain events have occured with thousands of litres passively harvested meaning this system has had adequate soil moisture all growing season. 💧

This project was one of my favourites as I was working for close friends and had a good crew and their fam all collaborating to make it what this is now.

My mate has been following up with lots of care, planting and maintenance and this place looks and feels like its had lots of love since the installation.

Helping good people get closer to food secuirty and communitys towards resiliance is a pleasure and couldn’t be more keen for the other projects coming up this year.💚

Thanks to my bro for always supporting me in being able to share my work. 🎥
