🏁🏎️🏆SUPERCARS ARE BACK AUGUST 8-10th!! 🏆🏎️🏁

The Supercars’ long awaited return to Ipswich is a step closer with the announcement of Century Batteries as the naming rights partner for the race.

Queensland Raceway hasn’t hosted a Supercars event since 2019 after it was dropped from the schedule.

The Ipswich Super 440 will be held at the ‘Paperclip’ at Willowbank Raceway | Drag Racing's Finest from August 8 to10. ASBK Round 5 @ Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 - Queensland Raceway

It will also serve as the final event of the Sprint Cup of the 2025 Repco Supercars Championship season.
At the end of Ipswich’s event, the championship leader will earn automatic entry to the Supercars Finals series, one of the key new features of the 2025 championship.

Local Talent and Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Brodie Kosteki from Dick Johnson Racing team was trackside at Queensland Raceway for the announcement and said that it was fantastic to be here in 2025. This place looks absolutely spectacular! Owner Tony Quinn has done a fantastic job and I’ve been fortunate to come out here and race a very high powered Excel in the past but it is great to be back here in Queensland.
“It is a place I’ve called home for five plus years — so it’s great to be racing in my backyard,” he said.

GM of Century Batteries Automotive, ANZ, Shaun O’Brien said that the return to Queensland Raceway is set to be one of the most exciting events of the 2025 Supercars calendar and we’re excited to bring our brand to the fans trackside and watching at home.

⭐⭐ NEW CHILDCARE CENTRE APPROVED in SOMERSET!! ⭐⭐

Young families will soon have a new childcare option right in the heart of Esk 🫶

At the Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday, 9 July, Somerset Regional Council approved a development application for a childcare centre on Ipswich Street between the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and Esk Colonial Plaza. (Rudi's Place, Vanity Fur Grooming Co, Smylie's Cafe )

The 700sqm facility would cater up to 108 children with six childcare rooms, two outdoor play areas, acoustic barriers and 24 new carparks.

Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said the proposed centre would be welcomed by the Esk community.

“Having additional childcare options means our young families have more flexibility so they can live and work in Somerset,” Cr Wendt said.

“We look forward to seeing the childcare centre up and running.”

🚨⚠️ NEW BOATING LAW ⚠️🚨

🎣With so many AMAZING fishing and boating spots nearby, its important to know the rules and stay safe. 🚤

Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) and partner agencies will begin enforcing non-compliance with new lifejacket laws from July.

The new laws are aimed at making boating a safer activity for the more than 1 million Queenslanders with recreational boating licences, and their passengers.

The laws mandate that boaties must wear their lifejackets in certain high-risk situations and have been in place since 1 December 2024.

The new laws mean lifejackets must be worn at times of greatest risk, such as crossing designated coastal bars, and when boating alone or at night on smaller vessels.

They are also strongly focused on keeping children safe.
The new laws mandate that lifejackets must be worn when:
-boating alone, (or only with children under 12 years) on an open boat that is less than 4.8 metres in length whilst underway crossing a designated coastal bar on an open boat, and on an open area of a boat, of any length.
-boating at night on an open boat that is less than 4.8 metres in length whilst underway
if you are under 12 years (aged 1 year or more but less than 12 years) in an open boat, or open area of a boat, of any length while underway.

Wearing a lifejacket is compulsory when crossing a coastal bar on certain craft:
-Small sailing boats (such as lasers, herons)
-Pedal boats
-Rafts, including inflatable rafts
-Rowboats (excluding Surf Life Saving Australia Club Surfboats)
-Sea and surf kayaks
Since the introduction of the new laws in December 2024, MSQ has focused on educating boaties about the new requirements rather than coming down hard on those not complying. However, the grace period ended on July 1, during the winter school holidays, and MSQ is warning boaties that if they fail to comply after that date, they may be fined.

Fines for not complying with lifejacket laws will start at $333 😮

Sadly, 64 people drowned in Queensland boating accidents over the five years between 2019 and 2023, and only five were wearing lifejackets. STAY SAFE 🙏😔
