The architecture for Serif didn’t stop at the home itself.

The floor plan has been shaped in a way that allows the outdoor spaces to feel just as architectural as the interiors - not separate, but a continuation of how the home is lived day to day.

Spaces that aren’t occasional, but used. Connected, considered and designed with the same level of intent.

The front courtyard becomes an extension of the home, creating an additional layer of living, and a quieter place to connect from the front sitting room.
A moment that sits slightly apart, yet still deeply connected to the way the home is experienced.

It has moved from just me plodding away with my design team to the point where every one needs to be involved. Which is when it gets really exciting!

This week we have been moving forward with engineering, the building surveyer, supplier quotes, finalising internals and starting to get services in place for kick off. It is all going on and I am not sure I could be loving it anymore.

I’ve had the front facade locked in for a few weeks now and I have been nervous to put it out to the world, but next Wednesday I’m finally going to share it.

Now once you see the front you will see why I am so excited, but the back gets even better!

What is coming…

Think high end, think 5 beds, 4 baths, pool, a perfect family home.

Time is money and I am hoping to shave a month or so off my projections in this design phase, so trying tome quickly is definitely something I am aiming for. Having Christmas thrown in there too Is not ideal however on a 18m project you are going to have a time delay for Christmas somewhere (and probably twice) in there so it is just something I will have to deal with.

I am hoping to break ground by the end of march, which will mark a just over 4 month design phase which I think is very doable.

What I am hoping to achieve before I drink copious amount of champagne over the xmas period.

1. Floorplans Confirmed
2. Selections confirmed and documented on my end
3. Initial meetings booked with some suppliers for indicative pricing
4. Facade development (possible but would depend on timeliness of getting land survey back and whether we need many floorplan revisions)

However you look at it, the next year is going to be epic and I can’t wait to share all of it!

Development has a way of tempting you to move quickly. Every day has a cost attached to it, and it would be easy to lock something in simply because it already works.

But I’m a big believer in pushing ideas a little further when there’s potential for something better. That extra layer of refinement is often where the most interesting things start to take shape.

What’s been interesting with this rework is that revisiting the facade hasn’t just influenced the exterior of the home. It’s actually allowed us to refine the upstairs bedroom wing internally - improving the flow while also creating a more streamlined construction approach.

I’ve been on the edge of my seat the last few days waiting to see the new render. The feels are real, I am pretty sure it’s going to be epic!

You may have noticed a little change.

has had a name change. I have been quiet on here recently and I feel like I need to explain.

I have been working a little shift I have loved building barbaros_abode and sharing my journey to complete my home, whilst this is still going to be part of the direction of the content I share, I want to share far more. I have been putting in a lot of work in my spare time to learn and grow and I am in the process of finding my first property development.

This week has really been pivotal in my journey, I have been speaking with a lot of building designers and Architects and it has really shown me that I want to share more on what this journey has in store for me!

Photo: The day we bought our family home which really sparked the love of developing something from scratch. Cannot wait for another moment of sticking a ‘SOLD sign’ on my next property development.

Hi, it’s been a while. I’m not really a post kinda girl (I’m all about the reels), but I’m having a pretty major break from IG and I can’t lie…it feels awesome. It can get quite consuming and I’m loving not having to out pressure on myself to create. I’ve been having some really great family time and I know I’ll be super happy to create again when I’m back in September!
