🚧 The landscaping mistakes Melbourne homeowners regret the most… usually start with trying to save money upfront.

A backyard should add value to your home — not become a constant list of repairs, drainage issues, cracking concrete, or wasted space 💸

Here are some of the biggest mistakes we see:

❌ Poor drainage planning
Without the correct fall and drainage system, water starts pooling where it shouldn’t. Over time this can lead to cracked concrete, damaged paving, soggy lawn areas, and even long-term structural issues.

❌ Cheap materials that don’t last
Some products may look good at first, but after a Melbourne winter or harsh summer they quickly fade, crack, sink, or move. Quality materials make a huge difference in both appearance and longevity.

❌ No long-term layout planning
A lot of outdoor spaces are designed without thinking about how the area will actually be used. The result?
➡️ Awkward entertaining areas
➡️ Wasted space
➡️ Poor flow throughout the yard
➡️ Expensive regrets later

❌ Choosing the cheapest quote
The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest in the long run. Poor prep work, rushed installs, and cutting corners often lead to costly repairs and having to redo the entire job properly later on.

At LJ Bartolo Concreting & Landscaping, we believe good landscaping is all about proper planning, quality workmanship, and building outdoor spaces that not only look amazing — but actually last 👌

We guide our clients through the entire process from design ideas through to completion, making sure every detail is done properly the first time.
