On Father’s Day, while so many of us celebrate with our children, I can’t help but think of Matt Cronin. As a father, I simply cannot imagine receiving the most devastating news any parent could ever hear. Knowing Matt, and the person he is, I know he would have been — and always will be — an incredible father.

Pat was just 19 years old when his life was taken in April 2016. He had stepped in to help a mate when he was struck from behind by a coward punch. Two days later, Matt and Robyn faced the unimaginable decision to turn off their beautiful son’s life support. Pat will forever be 19.

This Father’s Day, my thoughts are with Matt, Robyn and every parent who would give anything for just one more Father’s Day with their child. One wonderful way we can honour Pat is by walking together at this year’s Be Wise Walk. Be Wise. Think Carefully. Act Kindly.

I’ve received several messages suggesting that I’m somehow a developer. Just to clarify, I’m not.

What I have done is bring a significant number of local landowners together, giving them a collective voice and ensuring they have the opportunity to be informed, consulted and involved in any future decisions around rezoning or subdivision.
