📰 Did you see us in the news?

Recent coverage has highlighted our new six-point plan to end homelessness.

Our plan sets out a clear pathway towards a Victoria where homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring. With a stronger focus on prevention, housing and support for people experiencing homelessness.

We’re proud to be part of the conversation about what it will take to make real, lasting change.

A little throwback to a very different time!

THEN: Tarakan Street was once part of Melbourne’s 1956 Olympic Village, built to house athletes during the Olympic Games.

NOW: Fast forward to today, and the site a vibrant residential and community hub — with 130 brand-new, modern and sustainable homes for Victorians.

The redevelopment transformed 60 older homes into 130 new residences, including:
• 67 social housing homes
• 63 affordable homes
• Bright, modern and sustainable living spaces
And the location? Still a winner! 🏆

🏡 2 Builders Panels are helping us deliver more homes, faster.

Our 5-member Modern Methods of Construction Panel is delivering hundreds of homes that are built in factories before being trucked to site.

And the 14 members of our conventional Builders Panel will be delivering hundreds more using traditional building methods.

Both panels are made up of pre-approved suppliers who went through a 12-month application and review process.

The panels make it faster and easier for us to appoint the right builder in the right area to design and build homes for people who need them.

We’ll continue to work with all our panel members to innovate and explore more and better ways to build homes faster, such as 3D printing and other new technologies.

Find out more about both builders panels on our website: https://www.homes.vic.gov.au/news/delivering-homes-victorians-using-modern-methods-construction
