šø Choose Kindness šø
Today's affirmation was simple yet profound: just be kind.
As we draw closer to the festive season, I felt compelled to share a thought inspired by this affirmationānot in sadness, but as a gentle reminder:
You never truly know what someone is carrying behind closed doors.
No matter how happy someone seems, how loud their laugh, or how bright their smile, there may still be a depth of hurt hidden beneath it all. So, choose kindness, even when others may not. Kindness is always the right choice.
The image accompanying this post isnāt my own words; itās from my affirmation book. But the message resonated deeply, especially when paired with a beautiful King Proteaāa gift from a kind soul, Mr. H.
Mr. H is an elderly gentleman I first met through a simple prospect call. When I asked, "How are you today?" his reply stopped me in my tracks:
"Itās a great dayāIām sitting on my back veranda with a magnificent view."
I cheekily replied, "Well, youāre lucky youāre not looking up at daisies!" to which he laughed wholeheartedly.
Here was a man, living alone with two children he rarely sees, yet his outlook on life was nothing but positive. His warmth drew me in, and soon, we were sharing morning teaāhis kettle, my French Vanilla Slice.
Walking through his garden that morning, he shared his love of flowers, teaching me the names of a few I didnāt know. It was a simple exchangeāconversation, laughter, and kindnessābut it became a memory Iāll treasure forever.
As I left, he handed me a stunning King Protea from his gardenāa gesture as thoughtful and genuine as the man himself.
To Mr. H, thank you for reminding me of the beauty in the simple things and the power of connection. And to my colleague Brian, thank you for capturing the moment so I can hold it close.
Until we meet again, Mr. H. š
Letās all choose to be kind, today and every day.
Yours in kindness,
