Today is R U OK?Day.

Most days, I talk with people about moving homes, plans, family decisions and what comes next.

But today is about a different conversation.

A more important one.

We all have people around us who might be doing it tougher than they let on. A mate who has gone quiet. A neighbour you haven’t seen for a while. Someone at work who doesn’t seem themselves. A family member who is pulling away.

Sometimes the signs are small, but they are still worth noticing.

So if someone comes to mind, check in.

Ask them if they’re okay. Then take the time to really listen.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Just being there, showing you care and starting the conversation can make a real difference.

Some days make you stop and realise just how lucky you are.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there today, and especially the local dads across the Perth Hills.

I’m feeling very grateful today for my two, Keely and Ewan.

Being their Dad has been one of the great privileges of my life, and like most fathers, I’m sure, I’m proud of the people they are becoming.

To all the dads, granddads, stepdads, father figures and those remembering their dads today, I hope you have a wonderful day surrounded by the people who matter most.

Today, my beautiful wife Marie and I celebrate 28 years of marriage.

Twenty-eight years of life, love, family, laughter, hard work, challenges, memories and everything in between.

Together, we have raised two wonderful children. Our daughter, now 19, and our son, now 16. And for 27 years, our home in Chidlow has been the heart of it all.

The Perth Hills have given us more than a place to live. They have given us a community, a lifestyle, friendships, memories and a backdrop to our family story.
Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful for the life we have built together.

Marie, thank you for sharing this journey with me.

Today is International Dog Day, so here we are, Missie and me, doing what we do best.

Anyone who has spent time out here knows dogs are part of the fabric of local life. Big blocks, bush tracks, quiet roads and plenty of room to run. Half the people I meet at a property inspection want to know about fencing, shade and where the nearest walk trail is before they ask about anything else, and honestly, fair enough.

A good dog makes a house feel like home pretty quickly.

So today is a good excuse to give yours an extra scratch behind the ears, an extra lap around the block, or that treat they have been staring at you about all morning.

But even with low water levels, the spirit of the event is still alive and well, with hundreds of competitors taking the plunge and putting on a great show.

As a photographer myself, I always appreciate images that capture energy, movement and determination. And these action shots do exactly that.
