New listings volume is well up on last year with 2022 being a particularly slow year for market activity. Excluding the pandemic years, spring is the peak selling season. The city recording the strongest growth for houses over the year was Perth, with prices up 8.6%. Brisbane and Adelaide are recording the strongest increases for units, increasing by 6.8% and 6.9% respectively. While growth continues, the rate of monthly change slowed marginally in September compared to the previous month. : Interest rates are on hold despite inflation ticking upwards in August, reversing a downward trend in place since April. At 5.2%, the inflation rate is still well outside the 2-3% band that the Reserve Bank of Australia aims for. Despite this, rates remained on hold this month.
