Wondering how to style one of the most basic and simplest of rooms to make it look exciting and trendy?

Here are five tips to ensure it doesn't look dull, empty, or cluttered.

1. Check the size and shape of the room. More extended rooms look great with rectangle tables, while smaller spaces find round tables more forgiving in appearance and regard to the corner's "ouch" factor!

2. Match up chairs with the number of bedrooms

3. Pick lighting about the size and shape of the table. Single drop lights will look better with round tables.

4. If there is space, use a side table or cabinet and display a vase of flowers/plants or some sculptural accessories

5. Don't leave the walls bare. Even the smallest rooms will benefit, e.g. a mirror hanging on the wall will enlarge the room!

Are you planning on selling and have come across home styling/home staging and are wondering how it all works?

Here is a basic outline of how the process works with the team and me;

1. A consultation takes place to view the property and discuss strategy and budgeting.

2. Partial property styling can use your furnishings, while full styling would use furniture and accessories from the styler. In the case of partial styling, all personal items are still required to be taken away.

3. Full styling would require all furniture and belongings to be removed.

4. In the case of multiple viewings, owners may need to neaten up the styling; however, many companies can also incorporate retouches during the viewing period.
