Today I had a conversation that stayed with me.
I caught up with a good man — a close friend — and what started as a normal chat turned into something deeper.
He opened up about the pressure he’s been carrying…
Work. Expectations. Family. Life.
And it made me reflect.
This is what life does.
We all carry expectations — of ourselves, our careers, our future.
And when those expectations aren’t met…
The pressure builds. Quietly.
And it doesn’t just stay with us —
it spills into our homes, our relationships, our families.
But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough…
Most men stay silent.
We carry it.
We suppress it.
We try to “handle it.”
Because we think that’s what we’re supposed to do.
But it’s not.
It takes strength to say:
“I’m not okay.”
“I’m feeling the pressure.”
“I need to talk.”
Mate — thank you for opening up. I respect that more than you know.
And honestly… I see it because I’ve been through it myself.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
When you actually talk to someone…
you realise you’re not alone.
Everyone is carrying something.
And speaking about it?
That’s what makes it lighter.
That’s what makes it easier for each other.
We are not built to do this alone.
To families, partners, loved ones:
Be patient. Be present. Be supportive.
Sometimes they won’t say it — but they need you.
To my mates:
When you ask “How you doing?” — mean it.
Stop. Listen. Be there.
And to every man reading this:
Don’t let ego or fear keep you silent.
There is always someone who will listen.
Let’s protect ourselves.
Let’s protect the men we love.
Because this isn’t just about pressure…
It’s about making sure we don’t lose each other.
Speak up.
