Want to keep chickens?

Its pretty easy. We have been doing this for nearly 10 years.

First in the suburbs with just a few.

And now around 20 and a rooster on acreage.

Our set up has changed a bit.

And a few more challenges....

Morning Chores.

Here is one chore that I have to do every day around 6 am.

Eggs are back on!

After months of "off the lay" for various reasons (pythons, goanna and moulting) we are back into active laying season.

It is calendula season! I have about 20 plants scattered around the gardens and they have started to bloom.

I will dry them and use them for tea. So pretty and beautiful medicinal qualities.

NDIS c o o k i n g s e s s i o n s

This week I hosted my NDIS client to create some yummy soup.

They wanted to make Pumpkin Soup and Tomato Soup.

We cater to a dairy free diet so used coconut milk for additional healthy fats with a lovely creaminess and a goal is to get more protein in their diet.

We did this by adding roasted spiced chickpeas as a garnish for the pumpkin soup and crispy roasted bacon bits for the tomato soup.

Leafy greens are another goal we like to sneak in there and we never substitute flavour - we opted for parsley and garlic chives harvested right from the garden.

Overall we achieved 16 freezer meals for $18✌️🙌

When I work with clients I consider their budget, dietary goals and preferences and meeting them where they are at. If that is microwaved meals and meat and 3 veg. We start there with minor shifts to healthier eating and then layer in new flavours and ingredients as each session builds on the last.

🌻Its rewarding work and I have capacity to take 1-2 more monthly clients. You dont have to be an NDIS participant- you can be a youth, parent, carer or adult who wants some home cooking support for themselves or their families.
