It’s officially whale season!

Guess who’s back… and they don’t do quiet entrances🐳

Whale season has arrived, with thousands of humpbacks passing by the coastline. The northbound migration peaks from late May to July, while September to November is your best chance to spot them heading south with calves, often with plenty of surface action.

One of the best parts is you don’t need a boat! Minnamurra Headland, Gerringong Headland and Black Head Reserve offer elevated views, while Blowhole Point, Kiama Harbour and Bombo Headland are easy, scenic spots closer to town. The Kiama Coast Walk links many of them if you feel like stretching it out and following these beauties along the coast.

Early morning or late afternoon on a calm day will give you the best chance of a sighting.
