The numbers are concerning, 39% of mortgage holders are feeling mortgage stress, 1 out of 5 people feel they may need to sell their home if there are two more rate increases, 36% of renters are feeling rental stress, half of 18-29 year olds are still living at home with their parents because they feel they can’t afford to move out and Opteon has seen a 28% increase over the past year for mortgagee in possession valuation requests from lenders because so many more people have fallen behind on their mortgage repayments. If the RBA increases rates again, it could be devastating for many families.
