Last Friday at we met Michael Kern from Townsville Chamber of Commerce were we spoke about sustainability with sugar cane products. What an enlightening conversation and I walked away with a healthy new perspective of an industry I previously knew little about.

Each week I am delighted how our group is expanding with awareness. It helps connectivity which is so important in our community. Every conversation we have, teaches us something new about people, about business and about the challenges others face. It's National Doughnut Day 🍩

But did you dough? * know.. 🫢
During World War I, in 1917, the Salvation Army dispatched volunteers known as "Doughnut Lassies" to the front lines in France. To lift the spirits of Allied troops, these women provided fresh, baked treats. With conditions proving to be harsh and supplies scarce, volunteers famously used soldiers' metal helmets to fry dough, handing out up to 9K donuts a day!

In states like South Australia, the Lassies' legacy is honoured through a partnership with Krispy Kreme to sell the "Red Shield Hope Donut" 💕

A little reminder that even a simple gesture like a sweet treat, can lift someone's day.. Whether it's a doughnut or a kind word, share that sweetness with someone you love today!
