Strategy is naturally forward-looking. But some of the most useful conversations about what comes next start by looking at what got us here.
Before setting the direction for another year, thereโs value in understanding the growth, decisions and lessons that shaped the one just gone.
Recently, the senior leadership team from Quantum CM Solutions headed to Torquay for our annual planning retreat and there was plenty to reflect on.
The growth of QCMS over the past 12 months has been significant. More communities. More responsibility. A growing team. And with it, an operation that continues to mature, evolve and find better ways to live up to our vision of creating vibrant, connected communities.
And amid the planning sessions, conversations and thinking about what comes next, there was also time to reconnect as a team.
There were beach walks, yoga, a Japanese BBQ dinner and some well-earned time at the bathhouse and, for the brave among us, ice baths included... because nothing sharpens strategic thinking quite like different temperatures!
But perhaps the most valuable part of a retreat like this is simply creating the space to stop and notice our progress.
Growth can be easy to miss when we're busy living through it.
QCMS today looks very different from the business it was even a year ago and that hasn't happened by chance. It comes from a team willing to put in the work, stay focused on the communities we serve, learn along the way and keep raising the bar.
A little time away to reflect. A lot of work on what comes next. And perhaps a few slightly more relaxed shoulders heading home.
