Rooster loves a good yodel at 4am to remind the world that he simply exists.. but he does unintentionally kickstart the most magical orchestra of native bird song in response to his audacity each day 🎶 Thanks for being a team player Rooster.

The 2026 Wollombi Valley Sculpture Festival is running from 12-27th September 📆

So with perfect weather predicted, and a stunning little historic village covered in magnificent art, strongly recommended a day trip to Wollombi NSW this weekend ☀️🚗

AUTOMATIC LAWNMOWER UPDATE: 🐻

We are SO incredibly pleased to report that our entirely unbothered resident wombat is still absolutely smashing his lawn mowing duties 🥰 AND healing nicely.

While the mange may look pretty confronting in this video, there’s actually some very encouraging progress happening underneath all that crusty business.
If you look closely, you can see a huge section that is now pink and furless - this is where the scabs are healing, loosening and falling away ❤️‍🩹 a great sign that the treatments are working!!

There’s been a massive increase in Red-tailed Black Cockatoos visiting lately and we are just in awe of their beauty 🖤❤️

Growing up in Western NSW, the Red-tails were everywhere and I have been mesmeriser by them my entire life- so it’s pretty special to now see them gracing us with their presence here at Rocky Forest Bush Retreat 🌿🖤

There’s something quite powerful about their arrival. In many Aboriginal traditions, these beautiful birds are seen as messengers- sometimes associated with rain, change and the shifting of seasons.

So when the Red-tails start showing up in numbers… we know to pay attention. 👀🌧️

Maybe Country is trying to tell us something. ❤️🖤🌿
