Taung VDC Donates Life-Saving Defibrillator to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital

GaMalete District Council joined the Taung community and leadership of Bamalete Lutheran Hospital in Ramotswa for the official handover of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) valued at P34,661.09, generously donated by the Taung Village Development Committee (VDC).

The small but meaningful ceremony was held at the Bamalete Lutheran Hospital Boardroom yesterday morning, and was attended by community leaders, hospital management, and representatives from GaMalete District Council. GaMalete District Council Chairperson, Honourable Matlhomola W. Motsage, invited as the keynote speaker, officiated the handover.

In his address, Hon. Motsage emphasized that this gesture demonstrates the power of community-led initiatives in addressing local challenges, highlighting that Batswana have a long-standing tradition of working together to support one another. He noted that Bamalete Lutheran Hospital serves not only the GaMalete District but patients from across the country, making community support for the facility critically important.

The Automated External Defibrillator is a life-saving medical device used in emergency situations involving cardiac arrest, and its availability will strengthen the hospitalโ€™s ability to provide timely and critical care to patients.

The Chairperson expressed sincere appreciation to Taung VDC for responding to the hospitalโ€™s needs and contributing towards saving lives within the GaMalete community. Special recognition was also extended to Kgosi-Kgolo Mosadi Seboko and the Bogosi, as well as community leadership structures, for encouraging collective action and community participation in development initiatives.

Bamalete Lutheran Hospital, which has historically served the district with distinction, continues to face financial and operational challenges. Initiatives such as this donation demonstrate how community partnership and collaboration can help sustain essential public health services.

TAUNG VDC DONATES A DEFRIBILATOR TO BAMALETE LUTHERAN HOSPITAL

Taung Village Development Committee (VDC) donated a defibrillator to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital(BLH) valued at P34,661.09. The Handing over ceremony was held on March 5 2026, in Ramotswa. In her welcome remarks BLH Board Chairperson Ms Joyce B.Sengate appreciated Taung VDC for the gesture noting that the Hospital is currently facing financial and operational challenges. In an endeavor to address these challenges, the Hospital Board and Management embarked on a resource mobilization exercise which commenced in 2025.

For his Remarks the Keynote speaker, GaMalete District Council Chairperson Hon.Matlhomola Motsage emphasized that this gesture demonstrated the power of community led initiatives in addressing the local challenges. Hon Motsage made a special recognition to Kgosi-kgolo Mosadi Seboko and the Bogosi ,as well as community leadership structures for encouraging collective action and community participation in the development initiatives.

A defibrillator is a lifesaving medical device used in emergency situations involving cardiac arrest, its availability will strengthen the Hospital ability to provide timely critical care to patients.

In closing the Deputy Kgosi-kgolo of Balete Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi expressed gratitude to Taung vdc for a job well done.He noted that BLH was built by Germans through Evangelism in 1934. Additionally, he thanked BLH staff for their dedication against all challenges the encounter.
