Hikes & Hills

Ready to take your walking routine to the next level? Hikes & Hills is a Tuesday morning walking program designed for more experienced walkers who enjoy a faster pace, longer climbs, and the challenge of uneven terrain.

Each week, participants will explore a different local trail, hill, or coastal route while staying active, enjoying the outdoors, and connecting with others. Walkers should come prepared with supportive footwear, water, and clothing suitable for changing weather conditions.

Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.

August 11: Green Hills — meet at Cripple Creek Wharf
August 18: Service Road Hill along the highway — meet at FRA
August 25: Barrington Trail and Brass Hill — meet at Temple Church
September 1: Stoney Island Beach

The program runs rain or shine. In poor weather, the group will walk indoors at the Barrington RecPlex. Challenges are welcome—come ready to push your limits while exploring some of our community’s beautiful beaches and trails.

Four Tides Beach Relay

Gather your crew and race the tide at one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful beaches! The Four Tides Beach Relay is a fun, team-based running event where teams of four tackle 4 x 1 km legs across the sand at scenic Stoney Island Beach.

Each teammate takes on one "tide" of the relay:
🌊 Low Tide
🌊 Rising Tide
🌊 High Tide
🌊 Final Tide

Whether you're racing for the fastest time or just soaking up the sunset with friends, this event is all about teamwork, laughter, and community. Dress to impress—there are prizes not only for top finishers, but also for Best Team Name and Best Team Outfits, so get creative!

Perfect for runners of all abilities looking for a unique beach challenge, the Four Tides Relay combines fitness, fun, and unforgettable ocean views into one incredible evening.

⚠️Notice of Causeway Lane Reduction⚠️

For the safety of the 700+ participants of the Nova Scotia Marathon, the Cape Sable Island Causeway will be reduced to one lane between the hours of 7AM and 1PM on Sunday, July 19.

Please drive with caution and prepare for delays.
