As your hostess I am always happy to suggest areas to explore outside our sub division when you inquire. I am still fairly new to the area myself but I have definitely found some beauty spots well worth exploring. Top of my list for a sunny, summer day are two beach areas with public access that are roughly a 30 minute drive from our Cotttage. Majority of the drive is down scenic, well kept main grid roads. Slow down, turn your music on and let the scenery set the mood for a day well ‘wasted’
First up, Zig Zag Bay Campground. Found on the Eastern side of beautiful Delaronde Lake. With A short access road off the main grid this beach is slightly easier to get to. With its vast beach area you will have no problem finding a spot to soak up the tranquil setting with towering Pines at your back. Dogs are not permitted on the beach and there is an honorary pay station with e-transfer or envelopes available. Bathroom facilities and Boat Launch also available.
Second, Nesslin Lake. My personal favourite. The road has to be one of the most winding I have navigated to reach a beach but the reward of a pristine, sandy beach is waiting for you. It is definitely the more populated of the two but finding a spot to set up and dip your toes should not be a problem. There is a small store where you check in that provides snacks, drinks and other confections. Dogs are permitted on the beach area across from the store going towards the boat launch. I have not found the hiking trail just yet but have been told it is also in the direction of the boat launch. The $10/day fee includes use of the boat launch. Very friendly staff so just ask for assistance if needed.
Both Beaches have seen a rise in water this season but they are still there and highly recommended! Pack a lunch and create a day trip that will surely leave you with a smile. It will cost you a little gas, a small day fee, and maybe a car wash when you’re back, but I promise, if being in the water with beautiful forest surroundings is your thing, these beaches do not disappoint!
Don’t hesitate to ask me for directions or search them on Google Maps.
Happy exploring,
Shelly
