The Bowen Island Properties team has published a FIFTH communications piece on February 26, 2026 regarding potable water supply for Seymour Landing, addressing questions about supply, source, regulations, professional review of water supply since 1977 (almost 50 years), supply adequate to serve proposed rezoning, and quality assurance (water conservation covenants, metered water rates, ongoing oversight by the province, active monitoring for and repairs of leaks/unaccounted-for-water).

The Bowen Island Properties team is pleased to announce that we have submitted an application to amend the Land Use Bylaw for a portion of Seymour Landing. In essence, the proposal seeks permission for additional residential development to directly respond to the ongoing and well-documented housing needs of our Island community, and to add some economic drivers by way of small-scale, neighbourhood commercial and hospitality uses.

THANK YOU!

The Bowen Island Properties team would like to thank everyone who attended our two public Open Houses in September to share your thoughts and questions about our approach to a ‘spot’ rezoning application at Seymour Landing.

We heard a range of questions and perspectives at both Open Houses. Overall, attendees expressed support for the principles behind the project, with particular excitement about the neighbourhood-scale amenities and housing options imagined. We received thoughtful questions about the amount and type of housing, the connections to the future (potential) passenger ferry, and available capacity for water and sewer servicing.

With these community conversations in mind, we are now working on a rezoning application to submit to Bowen Island Municipality.

PLANNING WHAT'S NEXT AT SEYMOUR LANDING

An Invitation to learn more and share your thoughts.

This fall, Bowen Island Properties intends to submit a rezoning application for an area of Seymour Landing as a next step in creating a more complete community.

To help address a few immediate and ongoing needs—including housing options for ageing-in-place, support for our Island economy, and creating spaces to socialize—this area can accommodate:
- A range of compact, comfortable and attainable housing types and tenures;
-Neighbourhood-serving retail spaces, including small-scale hospitality uses; and,
-Indoor/outdoor spaces for social gathering and connection.

Given the capacity of existing infrastructure at Seymour Landing—including potable water and sewage treatment systems—Bowen Island Properties is well suited to implement this vision.

And while the larger vision of Seymour Landing—including the potential for an electric passenger ferry dock, health and wellness services, and more diverse housing options—continues to be Bowen Island Properties’ aspiration, this “pilot project” can happen more immediately.

So… while we have early ideas about this area and the opportunity, we want to hear from you!
