When will people learn. This is 100000% preventable and a simple battery or replacement of a non working unit can save so many lives.

I see people on Tik Tok making videos with their smoke detectors chirping in the background. I will comment “change the batteries, it could save your life” and I get met with “mind your own business”.

IF THIS SITUATION IS HAPPENING TO YOU, CALL US RIGHT AWAY FOR ASSISTANCE!

Unfortunately, this situation is the bulk of applications being filed at the LTB.

Let’s do the math on an average rental unit:

1 month not paid $2,000.00 + Application filing fee $186.00 + 8 month x no rent of $16,000.00 = $18,186.00. If you win, you will wait possibly 60 days for your order so add an additional 2 months rent of $4,000.00. You finally receive your order but you need to wait 11 days before filing with the sheriff for eviction (removal). Sheriff fee is $315.00.

That’s $22,501.00 just to get your house back. Add in possible paralegal fees, junk removal, locksmith, cleaning and re-rental fee.

Landlords (big and small) are encouraged to join local groups such as Ontario Landlord Watch and Solo. They are excellent resources to help answer questions, get advice and you can learn about your rights and responsibilities for being a Landlord. Get involved and help bring change to a system that is/may one day change your financial future.
