Great turnout and feedback received last night in Nackawic!

Great to work with Destination Nackawic on this fantastic project to build an inclusive and integrated community on municipally-owned surplus land. A big thank you to Minister Richard Ames for his support on this project and Minister Jill Green, MLA for Fredericton North for her support in our work.

Next step - your feedback will inform rental versus ownership units, phase the development to have a great outcome.

Merci à nos partenaires du projet : Association of Municipalities of Ontario, Alberta Seniors & Community Housing Association, BC Non-Profit Housing Association, CHF Canada, Housing Hub of New Brunswick, Manitoba Non-Profit Housing Association, Réseau québécois des OSBL d'habitation - RQOH, Service New Brunswick / Service Nouveau-Brunswick, et Regroupement des offices d'habitation du Québec

Happy to participate in the Housing on the Hill day, coordinated by CHRA.

Minister of Housing Sean Fraser addressed a room of Community Housing sector leaders in Canada and we asked the question: “when will investment in housing be consistent, supporting a development pipeline?”

Welcome to our Housing on the Hill 2023 attendees! We look forward to a day of advocacy, learning, and discussion.

We have been using the term “investing in community housing “, and people hear it’ll cost money…

Now we have the proof that it is indeed, an investment! M

Check out this report commissioned by the Canadian housing and renewal association and written by Deloitte which identifies a causal relationship between investment in community housing and an increase in GDP.

None of us knew what was gonna come out of the study… We all had the hypothesis, now we’ve got the proof

Significant improvements to community housing projects could seriously boost the Canadian economy while addressing the country’s housing crisis at the same time, according to a new report.

Proud to be a partner in this National study with a local lens demonstrated the increase to GDP resulting directly from investment in community housing.

CHRA, Housing Partnership Canada, and our sector partners have released a report that quantifies the link between community housing and economic productivity. https://bit.ly/49SLani

The report, authored by Deloitte, forecasts the economic benefits of increasing the proportion of Canada’s community housing to the OECD average and shows that a higher rate of community housing leads to increased economic productivity.

Among the report's key findings is that bringing Canada’s community housing stock to the OECD average by 2030 would boost economic productivity by a staggering 5.7% to 9.3%.

Milestone time!

This week we presented our first feasibility report to a non-profit housing corporation as a key stakeholder.

Thanks to recent changes to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) National Housing Co-Investment Fund and to the GST being fully exempted on new construction projects and conversions, this feasibility is the first (hopefully of many) to be moved to the development phase, aiming for a September 2024 construction start.

Things we are up to: developing Rapid Rural Affordable Housing in areas of New Brunswick where key employers' growth is limited due to lack of housing in their community.

Want to know more? Check out our Request for Expressions of interest - a call to employers to share their hiring needs with us, so that we might build the right type of housing for their teams.

There are just a few housing units left to be allocated across the province, so act fast! If the document interests you, feel free to connect with us for some updates on the program.
