Richmond is introducing a 30 km/h speed limit on approximately 500 kilometres of local residential roads across the city.

Following a June 8 council decision, new speed-limit signs are being installed throughout Richmond neighbourhoods. The reduced limit becomes effective and enforceable once the signs are posted, so drivers should watch carefully for changing signage.

🏡 Local residential roads: 30 km/h
🛣️ Arterial and perimeter roads: Remain at 50 km/h
🚶 Purpose: Improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, children and residents travelling to schools, parks and nearby destinations.

Several Richmond neighbourhoods had already introduced 30 km/h limits, including Hamilton, Steveston, Burkeville, Barnes/Flury and Princess/London.
