The Paskapoo Slopes are an ancient sanctuary, holding thousands of years of memory in its 6 benches divided by 12 separate ravines.

Long before Calgary took shape, this land was home to Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), Tsuut’ina, and Stoney Nakoda nations.

For over 8,500 years these slopes served as sacred gathering grounds, hunting lookouts, and crossroads.

Buying with Sotheby’s In France

The buying process usually begins with a written offer from the buyer. After the parties have reached an agreement, they sign a “compromis de vente” with the terms of the sale. This is accompanied by a deposit - usually 10% of the price. The “compromis” may contain a number of suspensive conditions (“clauses suspensives”) which are typically financing and building permissions.

The buyer has a 7 day “cooling off” period: they can withdraw from the contract without incurring any legal penalties.

The signing of the final contract, the “acte de vente” or “acte authentique”, takes place in a notary’s office. In France, a “notaire” is a qualified lawyer who acts in the capacity of a government official.

When you’re building a deck you have to consider the Alberta Building Code, the Calgary Bylaws, and your Real Property Report (RPR).

The City has a questionnaire which can be found at the link below to determine if you need a permit (building or development), or not.

A building permit requires a fee of $205.92 and a development permit is $550.00.

Your RPR will show you where you may have right-of-ways or easements on your property that you need to consider before you build on top of them. You can contact the city about guidance on this as well.
