Many light fixtures in hotels and restaurants are independently designed and then contracted out for manufacturing instead of similar buying an existing light fixture. This is due to the scale needed (size) economies of scale (many locations) and affordability. My hat always goes off to these true designers who marry pure creativity while carefully colouring in the lines of the company’s budget.

Alberta condo owners are going to be in for a little surprise. I just attended the ACR condo management conference last Saturday. There’s a new tribunal to hear complaints from unit owners and it’s going to increase condo owner’s fees. Not a lot. Just like $10/year per instrument on title. So a condo unit plus a titled parking spot plus titled storage is 3 units so about $30/yr. It’s a mandatory fee, paid yearly, to fund the new provincial tribunal. Had to be done. Not everything has to be heard in court and court is expensive for everyone. And it’s supposed to be much faster. So let’s see how this unfolds.
