What are you reading this month? 👀

Stephen King’s the Shining movie is a cult classic, but I would argue the book is way better! The book show cases Jack Torrance’s gradual shift into madness where as the movie misses the mark and just portrays a crazy man from the beginning, which does a disservice to the impact the Overlook Hotel has on Jack’s psyche. The endings are slightly different as well! 🏨

Probably my all time favourite book by Stephen King. A quintessential psychological thriller that you won’t want to put down. But! Be warned, the book is gorey. Follow up the book with the 1990 movie staring the Queen, Kathy Bates who DELIVERS 🔪🩸

Although The Dante Club isn’t technically on theme as it is more of a history thriller set in post Civil War Boston in 1865, but it features a series of gruesome, elaborate murders that mirror the torturous punishments of Hell described in Dante Alighieri’s Inferno. Il’d say that’s pretty spooky 👹👻

Everyone Knows Your Mother Is A Witch is a bit lighter and not a horror or thriller, but focuses on mass hysteria and rumour surrounding witchesssss 🧙🏻‍♀️🍵🌿

Last but not least, the star of weird, creepy books, Grady Hendrix. A group of survivors meet with a therapist in a support group in an attempt to put their lives back together. This book plays tribute to popular horror films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream. The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires should also be on this list 🧛🏻🍑

The market is soft. In the past week there have been 28 new listings, 6 listings pending (meaning conditions have been removed and they are now firm), 24 price decreases, and 7 expired listings 👩🏼‍💻
