HIGHER PRICES DIDN’T ALWAYS MAKE SELLING EASIER

When prices were climbing quickly, sellers who also needed to buy another home had a different problem.

Many were hesitant to list because they couldn’t find their next property, which created a stalemate in the market.

And when prices started coming down, some deals made at the height of the market ran into appraisal issues.

If the appraisal didn’t support the purchase price, buyers and sellers sometimes had to renegotiate, or the buyer had to make up the difference.

It’s a good reminder that the headline price doesn’t always tell you the whole story.

A HELOC can be a useful financial tool, but it’s important to understand how you’re using it.

I’ve seen homeowners use the equity in their home to finance a car, a vacation, or other expenses because the payments seem lower. The problem is that you’re now securing those purchases with your home.

If you’re using a HELOC, make sure there’s a plan to pay it down. Your home should be working for your home, not carrying debt that has nothing to do with it.
