This may be a long post, but well worth the read if you’re interested in renovations.
Two years ago I started a project that was well beyond my financial means, construction skill and frankly, my mental capability. It took a serious toll on my mental health, financial security and my personal relationships. I demo’d, DIY’d and took monthlong breaks to finance even small construction projects out of my scope. I did this because I had a vision, however flawed to some, that this was a step toward financial security and a long term investment plan.
The goal when I started, alongside financial freedom, was to create an oasis for contract nurses. Having travel nursed now, for just over a year, and seeing how nurses have to adjust to a new, temporary space, give their absolute best self to a strange place and strange people, I wanted them to land in their very own home away from home. With champagne taste, I designed 124 Prince St. - The Golden Hour to feel like you could relax as kings and queens after an arch-droppingly long shift.
While waiting for my first medical resident to take occupancy, I decided to trial Airbnb. I left a journal, a bonjourn-al if you will 🤭, to capture the experience of those guests who stayed. To say the stories I have read, and the ultimate appreciation I have felt have brought literal tears to my eyes. While I still feel like an epic failure in other parts of my life, this is where I feel like I have won. My visual dream is here and while I’m years away from being financially ‘net zero’, my heart is full 💛
2025 had guests from all over Canada, USA, Switzerland and Italy, with virtually no marketing ( BIG FLEX 💪). Below are some of my absolute favourite entries.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every person, business, and emotional and financial supporter that helped make my first business dream a reality. 😘
