Great news to report!

After 3 years, we've won our case against BC's Ministry of Children & Family Development.

A three judge panel found that the MCFD did not have the authority to render their decision, and therefore it is of "no force and effect."

Today, the BC Court of Appeal released their reasons for judgment in my case against BC's Ministry of Children & Family Development. In short, the Court allowed our appeal and we won. The Court declared the order made by the Director (MCFD) "unauthorized and of no force and effect." (full…

My apologies for the radio silence lately, but with COVID and now the incredibly sad situation in the States, it's hardly seemed appropriate to ask for your attention.

Three big updates for you on our MCFD case:

1) On June 11th at 10am, via Zoom, our case will be heard at the British Columbia Court of Appeal! That's just 10 days away. If you are in the press, or know journalists who would like to attend, email me and I can provide details on how they can watch on the day of.

2) Kids First Parent Association of Canada has been granted intervenor status in our case! On April 7th, their application to file a supporting position on the Charter aspect of our case was granted, despite the Ministry of Children & Family Development's opposition. It's fantastic to have their additional expertise headed into this big day in court.

3) We've raised $7,000 of what will likely be a $20,000 legal bill, once June 11th arrives and all the last minute work leading up to that date is tallied.

This is an absolutely terrible time to ask for financial assistance, which is why I haven't lately.

But if you or someone you know have a stake in raising independent kids - without baseless government intervention - any monetary help is hugely appreciated.

Thank you again for all your support over the last 2.5 years (and counting) and for reading this.

Stay safe and I'll keep you updated going forward.

Sincerely,

Adrian Crook

In 2017 BC's Ministry of Children & Family Development decided my 5 kids can't ride the bus or be left alone until they are age 10.

In Fall 2019 we took the MCFD to Court.

We just got our ruling: We lost.

Here's why we're confident in our appeal.

America’s major cities are turning into playgrounds for childless professionals. It shouldn’t have to be this way.

This physical inactivity crisis owes a lot to the decline in children’s independent mobility, which is the subject of a new documentary called Running Free: Children’s Independent Mobility from UBC…

Parking! What is it good for? August 10, 2019 / no comments Since I sold our minivan in 2015, I’ve rented our condo’s assigned underground parking spot out to a friend for about $150/month. That’s $1800/year in additional income, simply for not having a car. It’s been great.  But recently I...
