Katie’s family came for her wedding weekend, which is about the busiest a house can get, and having a thoughtful host made the whole experience unfold smoothly.

Five bedrooms for proper rest, a kitchen that can put breakfast in front of ten without anyone queuing, a long dining table, and a screened porch in the treetops for the ones who need ten minutes away from the celebration.

Multi-generational families, wedding guests, outdoor sports enthusiasts, writers, birders, wellness retreats, small team offsites, and friends after a getaway. This house was built for all of them. Guest Favourite on Airbnb, according to guests.

The first thing most people do on a cool evening is lay a fire, and the wood is already stacked and waiting.

One decorative brick fireplace creates ambiance in the TV room, while two wood-burning fireplaces bring extra warmth in the living room and king bedroom. Firewood is provided so your first evening doesn’t begin with a trip into town for a bundle of damp kindling.

Open year round. Take a seat, feel grounded, and let the restoration begin.

Ten people, and nobody sleeping on a living room cot.

Five bedrooms, six beds, two and a half bathrooms, and three thousand square feet spread across two floors, so the early risers and the late-night crowd needn’t ever meet in the hallway. Cedar closets for hanging things up properly, and plush unscented linens, professionally washed.

Everyone gets somewhere quiet to go, which is what makes a big group work.

A partly-finished puzzle on the table, the Scrabble box waiting its turn, and the forest going about its business through the window.

Nature books by the fireside, games and puzzles in the cupboard, exercise equipment, a media lounge, the forest-air screened-in porch, and enough quiet corners that those who want a nap can have one.

The days that turn wet tend to be the ones people talk about afterwards.

Ten soon-to-become-friends came for the wellness retreat and never once needed to start the car.

Trails start from the door for the early risers, plus a chef-built kitchen for nourishing everyone afterward and floor-to-ceiling window views of bird feeders and forest.

Tranquil, but never dull. That is the point of the place.

Larch Loop to the right, Whitetail Way to the right, Hawk’s Flight to the left.

Just some of the private trail signs that hint at what you can find: the deer really do use Whitetail Way, and the hawks really do work that stretch of sky. Five marked trails across seven acres, all of it connecting through to the Bruce Trail and the Dundas Valley.

Pick one and see where the afternoon goes.

Every stay here starts with a conversation. A question about the drive, the firewood, the best baked goods in charming Dundas, or which trail offers the best walking after rain.

Nancy is a chef and conservationist with a background in hospitality, and she carefully curates the space for exceptional guest experiences, so you are immersed in a private escape while feeling cared for.

By the time you pull up through the trees, the place already feels a little familiar.

It’s a home, and it’s hosted like one.

Step out onto the screened porch and peer into the forest from mid-tree level, almost as a bird or flying squirrel would, from a 23-by-14-foot porch cantilevered among the trees.

There are three couches out here, a rocking chair nobody wants to give up, a long table that seats ten, and a stack of blankets for when the evening turns cool.

Mornings are for coffee and the first birds, afternoons drift, and after dark, if you sit still long enough, you’ll hear the owls calling out across the trees.

It makes a very good office, too, with a view that changes with the seasons.

Some mornings you’ll want to walk before you’ve properly woken up, and here you can.

The trails start at the back door and run through seven acres of mixed forest, past the treehouse kid’s cabin, and on into the Dundas Valley if you have the legs for it. Watch for deer on Whitetail Way; they were there first.

Wander as far as you like, then come back for a second coffee.

The drive climbs up through the trees, and where it ends, the trails begin.

Five marked private trails wind across the property—Larch Loop, Whitetail Way, Hawk’s Flight, Oak Canopy and Paw Paw Path—and they connect straight through to the Bruce Trail, Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath, and the wider Dundas Valley system.

Boots by the door, and off you go. No driving to a trailhead, no parking, no waiting.
