🏢 CONDO UPDATE: Changes to the Condominium Authority Tribunal (CAT)🏢

The Condominium Authority Tribunal (CAT) has launched a new online platform and updated its rules as of October 1, 2026.

For condo owners and corporations, here are the key things to know:

✨ What’s new?✨
• A faster, more responsive online system
• More guidance throughout the application process
• Faster document uploads
• A smoother process for notifying parties
• Clearer and easier-to-understand rules

📋 What hasn’t changed?📋

The CAT’s three-stage dispute resolution process remains the same:
Negotiation → Mediation → Adjudication

The CAT’s current jurisdiction also remains unchanged and continues to include matters such as:

• Condominium records
• Nuisance issues, including noise, smoke, odour and vibration
• Pets, vehicles, parking and storage matters related to condo governing documents
• Compliance with settlement agreements from previous CAT cases

⚠️ Already have a CAT case?⚠️

Existing CAT cases will remain on the legacy platform and will continue to follow the previous CAT rules.

Any new cases filed as of October 1, 2026 must be filed through the new platform and will follow the updated rules.

📚 The Condominium Authority of Ontario has also announced a webinar on Thursday, October 22 at 5:00 p.m. to walk parties through the new platform and changes.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

On Wednesday, September 30th, the MCRS office will be closed in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day is an opportunity to pause, reflect, listen, and honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

We encourage everyone to take time to learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and to reflect on the important work of reconciliation.

Our office will reopen on Thursday, October 1st during regular business hours.

📚 CCI Huronia Lunch & Learn is back! 📚

Last week, the CCI-Huronia Lunch & Learn Webinar Series kicked off again - and we were even more excited to have Debbie Dale from MCRS join as one of the guest speakers! 👏
