A special day today for our Ignition Tranquille Developments Ltd. (Ignition) team today as we announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Andrew Peller Ltd.

Andrew Peller Ltd., a name associated with award-winning premium and ultra-premium brands including Peller Estates, Black Hills, Sandhill, Tinhorn Creek, Red Rooster, and Gray Monk, announced Monday the signing of a MOU with Ignition, to explore the viticulture potential for the Tranquille farmland in Kamloops, B.C.

“The consistent population growth and the willingness of the Kamloops restaurants and residents to support local businesses is a key factor in our interest. Having the vineyards and winery integrated with Tranquille’s residential development is a win-win for vintners and residents,” said Kirk Seggie, Manager, Grape Supply & Business Development with Andrew Peller Ltd., adding, “The four pioneer wineries in the Thompson Valley (Harper’s Trail Estate Winery, Monte Creek Winery, Sagewood Winery, and Privato Vineyard and Winery) have shown that award winning wines are possible, and we feel that the opportunity to grow premium vinifera grapes on the Tranquille site is not to be missed.”

The Tranquille Economic Impact Assessment has been released. Construction of the Tranquille agrihood will create $608 million in economic spin offs to Kamloops along with 441 fulltime jobs. Read more at www.tranquille.ca .

Kamloops Fire Rescue, in partnership with Community Services and the RCMP, wants to remind residents that open fires on public beaches, including Cooney Bay, are not permitted and are a violation of Fire Prevention Bylaw No. 10-37.

Two major fires within 10 days of each other. Each started on purpose by two different people. In both cases witnesses stepped forward with video and pictures of the culprits. The first picture is of the Cooney Bay field, the second one is west of the creek on the north side of Criss Creek Road. The latter came very close to becoming an uncontrolled wild fire! Unbelievable! Thankfully we have terrific fire fighters who were willing to drag fire hose up a vertical climb in excess of 100 feet!!
