"Do you think the Bank of Canada will cut interest rates?"

With inflation down to a record low of 1.6%, it raises the possibility that the Bank of Canada (BoC) might consider cutting interest rates. Lower inflation reduces the pressure on the central bank to keep rates high, as its primary concern is usually to prevent runaway inflation.

However, the BoC is likely to take a cautious approach. While lower inflation is a positive sign, they will also look at other factors such as economic growth, employment levels, and global economic trends before making a decision. If the economy shows signs of slowing down or if financial conditions tighten, a rate cut could be on the table to stimulate growth.

That said, the Bank won’t rush into a cut unless it’s confident that inflation will stay low and that the economy needs additional support. For now, we’re in a wait-and-see period, but the drop in inflation certainly opens the door for future rate cuts.
