The Bank of Canada has lowered its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to 4.75%. This is the Bank’s first rate cut since March 2020.

Markets are currently pricing in further interest rate hikes for all further announcements over the course of 2022, with rates expected to hit 3% by the end of the year.

Canada’s major chartered banks are currently advertising five-year fixed mortgage special interest rates of around 4.07%. Home buyers can often negotiate the interest rate for mortgage financing based on their creditworthiness and the degree to which they do other banking business with the mortgage lender.

With interest rates expected to go up, it’s better to negotiate your mortgage rates sooner than later… Or perhaps purchase your property sooner than later. Also factor in that higher interest rates=Lower selling price leverage, so you may want to put the wheels on listing sooner than later to maximize profits.

Real Estate investing has a lot to do with timing, knowing this can have you time the “market” profitably…
