The Bank of Canada just announced it’s keeping its benchmark interest rate at 2.25% — exactly where it’s been for a while now. This was widely expected by economists.

👉 What that means in simple terms:
• No rate changes right now — so borrowing costs are likely to stay stable for the moment.

• The bank says there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the economy, so it’s taking a “wait and see” approach.
• Inflation is expected to stay near the Bank’s 2% target, and economic growth is expected to be modest.

For the housing market, that generally means no sudden shifts in borrowing costs right now. This will help buyers and homeowners plan ahead and should be encouraging for the spring market, as we have we have already seen an uptick in activity in the second half of January. 🏡 🙌🏼
