🚨UPDATED SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION🚨

Heads up, ! Here is the final roundup of details to help you plan your day on Monday, April 8th. Whether you're local to or making the trip down to the Village, this will be key to keep in mind:

-The Port Stanley Visitor Centre, located at 199 Carlow Road, opens at 9:30 and will be handing out eclipse viewers while supplies last, as well as providing maps of Port Stanley and other tourism information for our beautiful area.
-The Lift Bridge will remain down from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to accommodate road traffic.
-Hawk Cliff will be closed for the day. There will be a roadblock at Dexter Line westbound and Hawk Cliff Road southbound.
-Sparta Line will be closed to northbound traffic at Union Road south of the bridge.
-Warren Street will be closed.
-East Street will be closed in order to serve as an emergency vehicle route.
-Traffic on the west side of the Village must exit via Carlow Road to Union Road.
-Traffic on the east side of the Village must exit via Sunset Drive.

These measures will be supported by Elgin County OPP and are in place between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please be patient and prepared in the event of traffic delays and potentially long idling times.
***Closed roads will still be open to local traffic***

Other considerations:
-Temperatures near Lake Erie are usually a few degrees colder than further inland, and during the eclipse temperatures will drop even further. Plan to bundle up!
-Plan your parking arrangements in advance using our interactive parking map: https://www.centralelgin.org/en/recreation-and-culture/parking.aspx?_mid_=5253
-Washrooms at the Visitor Centre and Beach Patrol will be prepared and open, with additional portable washrooms available.
-Enhanced garbage receptacles will be in place.
-By-law enforcement officers, Roads and Parks Staff will be active in the community to assist visitors.
