Fall colors are peppering the forest. The mushroom is desperately trying to pop up. The temperature is changing and for the land, I hope it rains soon!

Fireweed - Epilobium anugustifolium

You know summer here when they come out to bloom.

The leaves are rich in vitamin C and can be made into tea. The Haida used the outer steam fibres as twine. The Salish used seed fluff in weaving and padding.

I have not been in Crumpit walking for a long while as my dog is injured so not been posting much plus life got busy. Sara Ruth sent some images of the Tiger-lily that she spotted on her morning walk. Unfortunately, I was able to download the image but I managed to snap it this morning.

These bulbs and steamed and eaten by the Coast Salish, Nuu-chah_nulth people &most northwest coast. I read that they have a peppery taste. I don't dig them up rather they left to pepper the forest floor with their radiant colours.

If interested in sustainable harvesting and about native use of plants and herbs does amazing videos about the local fauna.

Am so sad we are going to lose this land. Please send in your letters to Mayor and the council about your concerns! It's in its early stages let's make sure this development becomes something the community wants and needs.

Thank you for the lovely Ayurveda nature walk yesterday! The rain stayed off and we had some lovely moments wandering through the forest.

For those that don't know Ayurvedic is ancient knowledge that originated in India 3000 years. It's the world's oldest holistic body healing system. Based on the five elements Space, air, fire, water and earth. These combined in the human body form three life force energies called Doshas.
Vata - space & air
Pitt's - fire & water
Kapha - water and earth

Through learning these Doshas and observing you can learn how to use this information to balance your mind and body. How you can use this knowledge when we are spending time in nature.

Caroline also sent me some images of some books you can read on this subject as well as recipes you can use. You will find them in our stories.

Thank you to all that came out!
