Some days making sure strangers get home safe is more important then making it home for dinner.
Tonight, in the cassier tunnel, while off shift and on his way home our driver, who was properly equiped with an amber strobe bar and saftey gear, stopped to assit an accident and act as a saftey barrier to protect the people involved who where out of there damaged vehicles which were blocking the left land and partial middle lane of highway 1 eastbound.
While engaged in traffic control and with Mitchells towing tied up with the accident a young man ran out of gas and pulled in front of the accident, in order to open the 2 lanes during rush hour it was decided that we would tow strap his car to the closest exit to be assesed. At that exit was a gas station which for saftey sake we pulled him into so he could get sorted and our driver was able to continue his trip home.
With Canada being in such termoil its extra important that we take care of one another when we can, a few minutes of your time can change a persons day more then we often recognise.
Stay safe out there everyone.
