Does a Home Inspection include Pest Control?

We do not look after pest control, however if there is any sign of pests; for example: Termites, Rodents, Squirrels or racoons you will find it all in your report: including the damage and where specifically it is located.

A home inspector may point out certain areas of damage to a property, but only a pest inspector can definitively determine if there are unwanted pests, how big the infestation is, and how long it's been there.

Should you get a home inspection?

An objective mind always answers “yes” but under certain market conditions, some homebuyers may be tempted to bypass this critical step in the purchasing process. It could be the competitive seller’s market, or the immediate “feels” you get when you find a home that could be “the one.” From the moment you walked through the front door, you knew it had to be yours. The walk-in closet, open concept plan, and lush backyard are exactly what you’ve been dreaming of and may have been enough to make you overlook the leaking faucet in the bathroom and strange smell coming from the basement.

Sometimes when viewing a home, it is easy to let staging get the best of us. We get so caught up in the pretty wrapping that we forget to look inside to see what makes the home tick.

It is a classic example of never judging a book by its cover, and can be easily solved with a home inspection. When buyers put in an offer, there is the option to insert a home inspection clause. When you hire a professional home inspector, you can save yourself time, stress, and avoid potential financial risk by proactively identifying any issues within the inner workings of the home. The home inspector will do a visual inspection of the structure and components of the home to ensure everything is performing correctly and is in safe working condition.

Skipping the Home Inspection

In red-hot housing markets, a new trend is for homebuyers to skip home inspections. And it makes perfect sense – when you’re competing against 10 other buyers for a house, including too many conditions can cost you your dream home.

What’s worse than losing your dream home? Winning what turns into your nightmare home.

For example, the home could have flooding issues. But if you don’t know the signs to look for you’ll totally miss it. That’s an expensive mistake.

A home inspection sounds like a lot, but once you get the report you’ll be happy you did it. This is especially important for older houses. The report will provide you with a handy checklist of all the things you should do to make sure your home is in great shape. Don’t cheap out on it.

If you’re worried about including the home inspection condition in your offer, consider getting a “pre-inspection.” That’s a home inspection before you make an offer. That way you can make an offer with the confidence and peace of mind that you’re buying a rock-solid home, not a money pit.
