A real life garden tour

The mess and all!!

My English country garden dreams are coming true!!!

Michael got me an arbour for my birthday. We have built it but not placed it permanently at the beginning of the path. I’m just waiting for my poppy to finish blooming so I can transplant them and I bought two David Austin climbing roses and a new adventure in the garden begins-growing roses, which I have never done, but I’m excited to try and I can envision the pink roses up the arbour.
The James Galway is a fast growing Rose that gets up to 10 feet high

The work never ends in the garden. I have so many plans in my head that I dream of all winter and work all spring and summer

Today - deadheading- weeding- cleaning up the mess!!

I have been thinking and dreaming about a refresh to our dining room since the fall of last year when we completed the vestibule board and batten and wallpaper project and ever since then all I can see is that board and batten on the wall in the dining room.

I did a AI rendering of what the dining room would look like to try to convince Michael!!

He has finally agreed that we can do it, but have to wait until the fall, after we complete our basement project that we’re working on right now

I envision blue China gallery on the wall and have been scouring thrift stores and marketplace, looking for plates and platters to use.

My mother and father -in-law are moving into a condo and she and her husband gifted us this very beautiful French provincial scalloped edged table and four chairs that I think are going to look absolutely fantastic.

I’m going to reupholster the seats and then I have a vision in my head parson chairs with a slip cover on each end.

I believe in slow purposeful decorating taking my time collecting vintage items.

The quiet of the morning before the house wakes up, I love to sit with a cup of tea and one of my decorating books and just cherish a quiet stillness. It’s a ritual in the winter you’ll find me on the sofa under a a throw fireplace on and now that we finally have some warmth. I will be on the deck soaking the beauty of the garden.
’s decor book is more beautiful by Mark Sikes, he is a master in blue and white interiors classic interiors and since I’m in my blue and white grandma phase as Michael calls it, I think it’s fitting that I go back and look through the beautiful photos of this book.

I hope you enjoy your Sunday

I just keep thinking about that TikTok audio where the girl goes it’s time!

Spring has just been so cold but we are expecting temperatures up to 30° this weekend in Windsor Ontario and it being long Victoria Day weekend, I am planting no matter the temperature

I’m doing a lot of planters this year more than I usually do, but thankfully, I was gifted to cast iron urns from my mother-in-law, along with an amazing birdbath and I have a lovely cement urn that came from Micheal’s brother last year.

I have planned out and laid out where everything is going but I have so much to do, but I think I can do at least 90% of it.

I’m gonna work my butt off and it’s gonna look so fantastic!!!

It’s a cool May 1st: the real start of digging, planting, transplanting happens in the month of May

I’m going to be at the Windsor Plant sale tomorrow morning at 6 AM.

I plan on lining up because last year I went when it opened and it was there was nothing left and this year I’m determined to get some trees and shrubs and perennials for my beds.

I’ve taken the list of what’s gonna be available I went and looked up every plant crossed off the ones that I wasn’t interested in and ones that I would be interested in I’ve categorize them by shade, full sun, partial shade.

Michael has been told he needs to come to the plant sale and I’ve shown him the plan exactly where we need to go as soon as we get there with the list and he says why don’t you make me a PowerPoint presentation? I said don’t tempt me. Remember when we went to Iceland and I made you one!

I do all the heavy work in my garden in May and then spend the rest of the summer. Enjoy enjoying it moving a few things around adding my clearance plants and weeding- in the early mornings.

This is my Joy, as my 88 year old dad says about hobbies: it keeps you out of the bars and away from the dancing girls!

You can find me in my garden between now and November 1st.

I’ve loved my oil painting of Paris over my sofa, but it really felt too small and I am committed to decorating my home with thrifted, secondhand vintage and free stuff.

The oil painting was given to me as a gift from a client who was going to give it to charity and give it to me as I helped her declutter her house to sell, and I treasure it as Paris is my favourite city.

I’m constantly searching on Facebook marketplace for vintage items and I came across these four plates a while ago and I saved the post. I thought that they were beautiful but too much money and I didn’t buy them but my girlfriend said Julie just buy those plates!

I made an offer of $40 and was so excited when my offer was accepted.
They are beautiful and charming.

I love that the bird theme of continues from the wallpaper in my vestibule.

My view

I’m so in love with the wallpaper, the paint the board and batten that we put in the vestibule

Before it was just a dark space with no life or character

Now, when I sit on the sofa, I get to look at the prettiest space in the house. The view is great.
