One of downtown’s most recognizable buildings has officially changed hands in a massive real estate deal. The Post, the signature redevelopment of the old Canada Post building and a major home for Amazon employees, has been purchased by Pontegadea, the global real estate firm owned by Amancio Ortega, the founder of Zara.

This is one of the largest office transactions Vancouver has seen in years and it shows how strongly international investors still believe in the strength of our downtown core.

Here are the highlights:

• The Post was acquired from QuadReal in a deal valued at more than one point one billion dollars
• Amazon occupies a large share of the more than one point one million square feet of office space making this one of the most important tech hubs in the city
