May 7th marked a career milestone for Ken that is truly noteworthy – 50 years as a commissioned BC Land Surveyor.

Ken graduated from BCIT’s geomatics program in 1971, and began is career in North Vancouver where he articled, receiving his BCLS commission in 1975. He then joined the partnership of Loach, Hobbs, and Kyler before moving to Vancouver Island in 1992. Ken then began his own surveying business and worked with the ABCLS to establish their practice advisory department from 2003-04. In 2005 Ken joined JEA and was instrumental in the establishment and management of JEA’s Parksville office, where he continues to provide senior leadership.

Heroes, Heroines & Villains were among the guests all decked out for a special night out at the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce's signature event, the 39th annual Gala dinner and auction. Guests participated in a very successful live auction, silent auction and games of chance, capping off the evening with dancing to tunes "spun" by Rockin Donny T. Successful bidders left smiling with some amazing gifts generously donated by our local businesses. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends or make some new ones.

The Gala is the Chamber's premier fundraising event and funds from the Gala help the Chamber deliver programs into the community like the Canada Day celebrations, the Business Excellence Awards, secondary school scholarships and the Summer by the Sea Street Market, as well as year-round operation of the Parksville Visitor Centre.

It’s awards season here at JEA!🎉

We want to celebrate and thank all of our long time employees for their hard work and commitment to our company.

From our Nanaimo office we’d like to give a shout out to Dean Roversi for his 5th year with JEA. From Victoria we celebrated Troy Hilder’s 15th year with JEA, Michael Puszka’s 10th year, and Justin Wever’s 5th.

Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances, some of those that we wanted to acknowledge were not able to attend the events. These ones were Brent Raisbeck and his 5 years with JEA and Peter Wittstock and his incredible 20 years spent working at our Victoria office. Henry Pocock celebrated his 5th year and Colin Burridge, from our Campbell River office, celebrated his 5th year as well. Well done, gentlemen! 👏

JEA is looking to add a new member to our growing team!

Our Nanaimo, Parksville, and Campbell River offices are seeking a Project Coordinator to join their teams and provide planning, project coordination, and drafting support for three BC Land Surveyors. This role will have the option to work at the Nanaimo or Parksville office and reports directly to the project managers.
Job activities:
• Compiling and submitting applications to various government authorities
• Creating plans/Drafting
• Communicating and coordinating with various government authorities
• Attending and presenting at public meetings
